Outside the Icelandic Parliament Building after I sang at the presidential inauguration when Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson started his fifth term as the President of Iceland on August 1, 2012.

Reykholt Music Festival

with Steinunn Birna Ragnarsdóttir
This summer at Reykholt Music Festival I did a recital of Rachmaninoff songs, some french songs and Beethoven folksong arrangements with Steinunn Birna Ragnarsdóttir pianist and the Reykholt Piano Trio. We also did new piano trio arrangements of Icelandic songs. It was a lovely experience. Singing in Russian is thrilling. I love this language and how it colors the voice. French is also a great language to sing in but so different. It was also very interesting to work on the Beethoven songs and discover how he is inspired by the  different languages and characteristics of the folksong and how his use of the combination of the piano trio adds another dimension to the songs. The trio arrangements by Þórður Magnússon were simply magical.

Parsifal in Prague

Inside Prague National Theate

I was lucky to sing the first flowermaiden in Parsifal in the beautiful theater “Národní divadlo” with Prague Opera recently. It was great to visit the wonderful city of Prague. And I had the privilege to be shown all around the city by John Fiore, the conductor of Parsifal, and his lovely friends Cynthia and Lucy. The performance was directed by Jirí Herman, a wonderful young director and former artistic director of Prague National Theater Opera. He was was very helpful and supportive.  It was truly a memorable visit.
