Dark Music Days

Dark Music Days Festival of Contemporary Music 2013
four days and nights of exciting new music and events in Iceland´s spectacular new concert hall "Harpa" began today. The Opening ceremony was held at RUV, Iceland state broadcasting system on broadcast live. In the ceremony I performed some great new music by Atli Heimir Sveinsson with Helga Bryndís Magnúsdóttir, piano. Águst Ólafsson, baritone, and Eva Þyri Hilmarsdóttir, pianist, also performed songs by Atli Heimir Sveinsson in the concert. We all rememberd one of Iceland's most prominent composers and pioneer of Modern Music Thorkell Sigurbjörnsson who passed away last night. The Festival 2013 is a tribute to Thorkell Sigurbjörnsson.

The Opening Concert with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra tonight at Harpa was also thrilling and I look forward to the next days crammed with exiting new music.
